Moville Celtic 3-1 Carn FC

The opening half was a tight affair with little between the teams.Moville were first to show on 9 minutes after a Joe Doherty throw in was chested into the path of Raymond Campbell by Nigel McMonagle but his left footed effort from twelve yards skimmed the bar.

Carn replied and Adam Byrne fired just over from twenty yards before Michael Byrne saw his deflected effort gathered by Sean McGuinness.

An unchallenged run by Daniel Mclaughlin ended when he fired just over from the edge of the area.At the other end quick feet by Tony Boyce sent McMonagle clear but keeper Padraig Doherty advanced to smother well.On the stroke of half time Carns Caomhan Canny twisted and turned on the edge of the area but saw his effort saved by McGuinness.

Moville broke the deadlock minutes into the second period when a long ball from Shaun Doherty was controlled on the edge of the area by Joe Doherty before he fired to the bottom corner.Moville were on top and keeper Doherty saved well to deny Boyce twice in succession before they added a second goal on 54 minutes.

McMonagle collected possession on the left and cut in before curling a superb effort past Doherty to the far corner.Carn upped the tempo with Michael Byrne seeing an effort clip the post before Caomhan Canny headed a Matthew Byrne cross just wide.

They reduced the deficit on 61 minutes after Michael Byrne converted a penalty awarded after substitute Cathal Doherty was upended.Moville responded with McMonagle blazing over when well placed before McMonagle had another effort well parried by Doherty but Dermot Harkin reacted quickest to slot home.

The final effort fell to the visitors but Cathal Doherty’s twenty five yards effort just shaved the post.
