TWO GARDAI have been injured and five people detained in the latest crime incidents in Co Donegal.
Gardaí say they are investigating the two incidents in the Moville and Bridgend areas overnight.
At approximately 2.40am today Gardaí received a call from a member of the public reporting people in the grounds of a house at Crawford Square Moville, the house was unoccupied at the time.
“Gardaí went to the house and discovered that the rear window had been smashed. Two people, one male in his 30s and one female in her 20s, were arrested at the scene. They are currently detained at Buncrana Garda Station,” said a Garda spokesman.
Both will appear at Letterkenny District Court tomorrow, Monday, in connection with this incident.
In a second unrelated incident at 8.30am today Gardaí in Buncrana received a report of people acting suspiciously at the Eircom yard at Bridgend.
Gardaí went to the scene and discovered a number of males trying to remove copper wire from the yard.
A Garda spokesman said: “The men tried to flee the scene and rammed a Garda Patrol car in the process. Three juvenile males were arrested two are been detained at Buncrana Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and the other is currently receiving medical treatment at Letterkenny General Hospital.
“Two members of An Garda Síochána were injured in the incident and they were also treated for their injuries at Letterkenny General Hospital, both have been released from hospital. Two juveniles will appear at Letterkenny District Court on Monday, 21st January 2013 in connection with this incident.”
