Julio Iglesais has helped open a new Spanish tapas bar – in Dunfanaghy.

But before fans of the suave singer descend upon the seaside village in search of love, this Julio is an IT expert.

But the good news for ladies who want to say they are dating Julio Iglesais is that he is single.

Julio moved to Donegal from Dublin last year after falling in love with the food at The Cove restaurant.

So when owners Peter Byrne and Siobhan Sweeney decided to open a tapas bar they had to call on Julio’s knowledge.

“How could we not ask a guy called Julio Iglesais for his help with a tapas bar.

“Funnily enough our Julio isn’t a ladies man and we don’t think he can sing but he’s a great guy.

“He has to bring his passport with him everywhere he goes because nobody believes him when he tells them he’s Julio Iglesais.

“We have become good friends and we can’t thank him enough for all his help and advice,” laughed Peter who is originally from Killester in Dublin.

Julio is helping Peter and Siobhan to source the best suppliers for traditional Iberian hams and other authentic Spanish produce for their new venture.

Julio, who is originally from Madrid and has worked in Ireland for ten years, works from home for IT company Oracle who are based in Spain.

The tapas bar at the Cove Restaurant will open this Saturday and Julio will be there – but will not be singing!
