Letterkenny Golf Club Ladies Report

There was a large entry (56 ladies) taking to the course for the Ruth’s Pharmacy Competition with the top seven players, plus Lady Captain, going forward to the Mary McDaid Memorial Trophy on September 14th in Portsalon.

The best 36 handicap prize was won by Sarah Buchanan (31 points), Front 9 C. Reddan (22 points BOT), Back 9 Anne Cannon (18 points BOT), Third Margo Birmingham (36 points), Runner Up M. Cavanagh (38 points) and 1st Place Cynthia Fuery (39 points). CSS 36 points.

The Ladies and Gents Club, organised by the Ladies Club, took place last week.

The event, kindly sponsored by Brian McCormick Sports, Noel O’Connell and Dermot Condon, had been postponed earlier in the year due to inclement weather conditions.

The results were as follows: Nearest the Pin (Ladies) Anne Condon; Nearest the Pin (Gents) Joe Terry; Third Anne Flannery, Lady Captain, Enda Mannion and Eamon McGlinchey (89 points); Second Michael Bouchier Hayes, Vincent McGlynn, Ciaran Ryan, Brian O’Reilly (89 points BOT); Winners Cornelius Mullan, Joe Terry, Gerard Harkin, Derek Kelly.

Many thanks to all those members and visitors who played in this competition and thanks also to our sponsors and to the gents who assisted with the cards.

The Lady Captain’s Outing was held in Ballyliffin and 32 ladies were in attendance.

The weather conditions were testing as was the Glasheady Course but it was great to have such a big turnout of ladies of mixed golfing abilities, most of whom said they enjoyed the opportunity to play on such a renowned course.

The outing was won by Tracy Spence who claimed the perpetual Tam O’Shanter, the much coveted annual award!

Many thanks to our Lady Captain Sandra for her generosity in the provision of goody bags for golf and the pre dinner drinks, getting the evening celebrations off to a flying start.

There will be a 9 hole scramble held on 10th September. Please see noticeboard for AM and PM draw sheet.

All lady members are invited to play, especially beginners and improvers. All welcome.

Tickets are still available for the Centenary draw which is scheduled to be held in October please contact any committee member or the shop.

Advance notice for your dairy – White Collar Boxing fundraiser is being held on October 27th.
