The 1st and 2nd year students of Errigal College have soared to the challenge laid down to them by three time Paralympic Gold medallist Michael Mc Killop of the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.
The students completed their challenge to cycle from Glenveagh National Park to Errigal Mountain and climb Errigal.
They set off from Glenveagh National Park into a strong headwind after 10.00am on Tuesday morning in good spirits following the completion of their six “key to success” workshops which included planning for success, mental toughness, hunger to achieve, people skills, sport and life knowledge and breaking barriers.
These workshops were extremely valuable in their content as the staff and students conquered their individual and collective challenges over the past six weeks in preparing for the event.
Michael Mc Killop is one of a team of Sky Sports Athlete Mentors that visit schools across Great Britain and Ireland and use their life story to motivate and inspire students to boost their confidence and develop leadership skills through participation in the Sky Sports Living for Sport programme.
The challenges and success stories Michael Mc Killop presented to the students and teachers on his first visit to Errigal College were truly inspirational and called upon a few times during the challenge yesterday.
Michael Mc Killop will return to Errigal College on May 21st to debrief the students and complete the remaining sections of the Skysports Living for Sport programme with the Errigal College students.
