The Mayor of Donegal Cllr Ian McGarvey and the County Manager Seamus Neely were the first two people to register for the North West 10k during Monday’s Council meeting in Lifford.
But they certainly won’t be the last!
In fact, organisers are estimating than more than 2,000 people will be taking to the roads of Letterkenny for the popular annual fun run/walk.
Donegal Daily is once again sponsoring the event along with Brian McCormick Sports.
But anyone looking for the cool running t-shirts which come free with entry are advised to sign up because they are going quickly!
With huge crowds expected for the North West 10k the committee is encouraging as many people as possible to pre-enter at Letterkenny Community Centre. A Portacabin office will be open beside the Centre from 5 to 7pm tonight, Thursday 1st and Friday 2nd while it will be 3 – 6pm on Saturday afternoon.
Sponsorship cards are still available from the Letterkenny Chamber to support the two main benefiting charities the Letterkenny Branch of the Dyslexia Association of Ireland and the Conwal Parish Church Restoration Committee.
A number of other associated charities will also benefit by their association with the North West 10k. The Chamber office is located at Grand Central Complex, Canal Road opposite the Retail Park (tel number 9124866.
A traffic management plan will be in place on the day. There will be some disruption to traffic for a period in the afternoon so motorists and the general public are asked to be patient and cooperate with the instructions of the Gardai and stewards. For further details go to www.northwest10k.com
