They will play Downings at home in their first group stage game on this Wednesday at 7pm. Good luck to the team and management in their championship campaign.

Under 16 boys

The under 16 boys played their second game of their league campaign at home to Letterkenny Gaels on Friday evening. It took the Reds a while to settle into the game and were 4 points down at the break. They put in a very strong second half performance but failed to capitalize on their possession The Final Score was Red Hughs 1-6 Letterkenny Gaels 0-11

Their next game is on this Friday away to Glenfin Throw in 7pm.

Minor Boys

The minors played St Micheals in the county division two final in O Donnell Park in Letterkenny in Monday night. The lads from Dunfanaghy were really up for this one as the Reds the had beaten them in the Northern Final earlier.
The Hugh’s lads took a while to settle into the game and were four down before they got a penalty to close the gap to a single point again. But the St Micheals lads upped the anti again and went in at the break four to the good 1-2 to 1-6.

The Reds struggled to compete in the middle of the park and St Micheals took control and were getting all the breaks. The writing was on the wall as the game went on. It was clear that they weren’t going to let the Reds back into this one and ran out deserving winners on the night. red Hugh’s 1-3 St Micheals 2-11

The lads will have a few weeks break now before the championship starts in July. I’m sure they will be all the stronger for this defeat and will be ready when the time comes to give it their best shot.

Strictly Come Dancing

Congratulations to Majella Sweeney and Maurice O Donnell on winning the final of the strictly come dancing last Friday night in the Villa Rose. They put in a flawless performance in the dance off to win the overall competition. The club would like to thank sincerely the three couples Conor Browne & Bronagh Kelly, Micheal Mc Glinchey & Kate Gallagher O Brien and of course the winners Majella & Maurice for putting in a massive effort and giving up all their spare time to take part.
