CULLEN – “YOU WOULDN’T NEED HAWK EYE TO SEE HAWK’S LANE NEEDS URGENT REPAIRS

Donal Cullen Independent Community Candidate Milford/Letterkenny area has called on immediate repairs to be carried out on a footpath from an area known locally as Hawk’s Lane to the Grey Rock Housing Estate in Milford.  Milford 1

The issue was raised by the residents of the area when Cullen was on his canvassing trail.

Cullen told Donegal Daily, “This footpath is atrocious and it is only a matter of time until there is submergence.

“It poses a real danger to all who use it.

“It is incomprehensible if this work was inspected and deemed to be up to standard, there are several feet of water in the drain below.

“Sand bags are in place to fill up the space between the bottom of the drain and the actual footpath.

“You wouldn’t need Hawk Eye to know Hawk’s Lane needs urgent repairs, the footpath is being supported by rusty metal bars and chicken mesh is used on the surrounding fencing.

Cullen posed the question, why on earth was a proper drainage piping system not put in place when this footpath was being constructed?

Cullen concluded, “The residents have waited long enough to have a proper and safe footpath on this stretch of road.

“I will be contacting the Roads Section of Donegal County Council by letter and seeking a full explanation as to why this work was signed off on.
