Buncrana GAA Notes
Senior Football
Both the Seniors and Reserves lost their games today although both teams played well and gave everything they could.
The Club is proud of both sets of players who are slowly but surely getting to grips with playing the game against much more experienced and battle-hardened teams.
Tagann ciall le haois!
Bun Cranncha Seniors (0-11) v (2-12) Aodh Ruadh at the Scarvey
Bun Cranncha Reserves (0-6) v (4-20) Aodh Ruadh at Crampsey Park
Senior Ladies
No game played today as Dungloe couldn’t field a team. Ladies awarded the game.
Minor Hurling
Buncrana Minor Hurlers claimed their first silverware of the season, in a hard fought league final win over old rivals Aodh Ruadh – rivals in the true sporting sense of the word. These boys have competed for most underage honours in the county now for 5+ years, and as always no quarter is asked or given.
The Scarvey boys raced into an early commanding lead, but as ever Ballyshannon came roaring back to lead at halftime by 3 points. The Buncrana boys were in disarray during the halftime team talk but slowly got themselves together and they knew the first 5 minutes of the next half would be crucial. Within 5 mins Buncrana were back in front and began to take control, building up a comfortable lead again.
As the saying goes, “The opera ain’t over until the fat lady sings”, and by God did Ballyshannon roar back! A couple of quick goals and they were right back in it again; but the young Buncrana team held on.
Muted celebrations greeted the ref’s whistle, a mutual admiration by both sets of players who gave all for the cause and will go again after exams in the championship.
It was a proud County Minor Hurling Chairman and County Minor manager Tom Clare who presented Paul Nelson, the Buncrana captain with the league trophy.

Underage Reports
U14 Div 1 Championship
Wednesday saw the 1st match away to Termon. Both sides were missing key players but Termon started well, taking control with some accurate play and scoring. Buncrana could only manage 2 points in the 1st half. However, trailing by 5 points at the break and realising they were now in a game, the Buncrana boys responded well. Buncrana scored a goal from Peter O’Neill and a further 2 goals and 2 points from Matthew Mulholland. Termon responded with a goal of their own but it wasn’t enough, as Buncrana won. The Buncrana boys could even afford to miss a late penalty and held on to win by 2 points. Final score Termon 3-6 vs 3-8 Buncrana.
