Naomh Conaill V Four Masters – All-County League Division One – Match Report

Naomh Conaill opened the scoring with a point, in the third minute from B. McDyre, in what was to be a tight scrappy game.

Four Masters were narrowly defeated by Naomh Conaill in their All-County Division One clash earlier this afternoon.

A point from a free in the fifth minute from P.Espey levelled the score quickly followed with a point from L. Keaney.

R.McGrory scored from a well taken penalty in the eighth minute putting the Four Masters ahead.

Glenties responded with three successive points within ten minutes leaving them only a point behind.

Sean Martin made a good save shortly before half time to prevent Glenties from taking the lead.

The save resulted in a 45 which D.Malloy calmly put over the bar leaving the teams even at half time with 0-6 to Glenties and 1-3 to Four Masters.

Another brilliant save from S.Martin, in the opening minutes of the second half, kept Four Masters in the game but the resulting 45 from D.Gallagher put Glenties back ahead by a point.

Masters responded with a point by R.McGrory and a goal from K McBrearty putting them back in control.

Glenties hit back almost immediately with a goal themselves scored from open play by D. Molloy.

With only four minutes left of the match the game was level, but in the 28th minute a goal from C Brennan left Glenties three points ahead.

C Ellis was Black Carded for Glenties in the 30th minute but Masters were only able to salvage a further point from this hard fought out game leaving the final score 2-9 Niamh Conaill 2-7 Four Masters.
