ROSEMARY CARR WINS THE LADIES COMPETITION AT MURVAGH

Donegal Golf Club (Murvagh)

Friday 6th June. – Mixed Scramble In aid of Cancer Care West.
A Mixed Scramble in aid of Cancer Care West took place on Friday the 6th in conjunction with the Presentation night.  GOLF LOGO

The winners were David Childs, Maureen Childs & Jim Nixon.

Runners up were Mary Meehan, Mary Daly & Matt Shovlin with Michael “D” Gallagher, Damien Hanna & Mary McGonagle taking third.

Naomh Bríd Classic
The Naomh Bríd Classic takes place on Friday the 20th June.

Ladies’ Competitions
1st & 3rd June – Sponsor: Millpark Hotel
Rosemary Carr, a member of the talented, athletic Carr family was the winner of the Millpark sponsored competition at the Whit weekend with 35pts.

Mary Talbot was the runner up with 34pts. Mary Bonner & Ann Short with 33pts each were 3rd and 4th.

Good luck to the Miele Team who are playing Portsalon on the 14th. 2 matches in Donegal and 2 matches in Portsalon.

The first round of the Máire O’Donnell against Cruit is being played on Sunday 15th in Donegal.

A Ladies Open, sponsored by Finn Lough, is on Saturday 14th from 12 noon to 3pm. Time Sheet in operation. 074 9734054.

Trophy.
The Qualifying Round of the Australian spoons can be played between the 16th & 21st June.

Kieran Mullin earned himself a trip to Powerscourt Golf Club for the final of the VW Masters when taking 1st place by the by the closest of margins in Sundays S & R Motors Sponsored competition.

Kevin Martin (2nd) and John Mulroe (3rd) were unlucky to lose out as they both also finished on 40pts. Tony Keys was best of the rest in 4th on 39pts with Jason Conway picking up the Gross.

Thursday Specials:
Once again the weather was perfect for Golf and we had an excellent turnout with 50 Players teeing it up on a course that is in excellent condition.
The winner with a solid score of 34pts was Hugh ‘L’ Cassidy , 2nd place went to one of our younger Thursday regulars Conor McNulty with 33pts, Cormac Oates claimed 3rd Place with 32pts and our former secretary Colm Campbell was 4th with 30pts on a break of tie.
Liam Moran won the prize for the 1st 9 with 21pts and John McCafferty was the best of the past players with 30pts on a break of tie.
Players are reminded that time is running out to play your Phoenix Cup first round matches, they must be played by the 18th June at the latest.
There will be no Thursday Competition this week 12th June due to the Mini Open Week, Normal competitions will resume on 19th June.
Congratulations to Minor league captain Damien Hanna and his team who defeated Gweedore GC to progress to the next round.
Team Update.
The Donegal League side bowed out of the competition on Friday evening when they failed to overcome the deficit from the away leg against Bundoran. The Minor League team progress to the next round following a victory over Gweedore.
