OisinA young Donegal man is battling for his life after he was involved in a serious accident while on holidays in Mallorca.

Oisin Merritt, a talented young footballer, is from Stranorlar.

The Finn Harps reserve player was holidaying with a group of his friends in Santa Ponsa, a resort which is hugely popular with many Donegal people when the incident occurred.

It’s understood he may have fallen from a balcony.

It is believed he sustained a fractured skull as a result of the accident, and has been placed in an induced coma.

He had been due to return home to Ireland today.

His condition has been described as ‘critical’ and his family have flown out to Spain to be with him.

His family and friends are distraught, and are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

“God help them all,” said one family friend.

“Everyone in the Twin Towns is praying Oisin pulls through.”

The former St Columba’s College pupil is an extremely popular young man in the Twin Towns and had celebrated his birthday just three weeks ago.
