DONEGAL MINORS AHEAD OF ANTRIM AT HALF-TIME AFTER SUPER-SUB GOAL

Declan BonnerDONEGAL’S Minors have the half-time lead in their Ulster Championship semi-final clash with Antrim at Clones.

Declan Bonner’s side had found it tough going against a skillful Antrim side before sub Naomh Conaill’s Ethan O’Donnell found the net with a great goal.

Donegal’s goalkeeper Danny Sharkey has been the hero of the first half pulling off some fine saves including a point blank effort.

Kilcar’s Stephen McBrearty and Downings teen Lorcan Connors with two had Donegal three points up early on.

But Antrim scored from the rebound off Sharkey’s save before adding a second score to close the gap.

The sides exchanged points, but Donegal were finding their efforts falling short.

Antrim edged into a 0-06 to 0-05 lead but half-forward Connors hit two lovely scores to put the Tir Chonaill men back in front.

Then sub Ethan O’Donnell – on for Buncrana’s John Campbell – blasted a goal to the net to put Donegal ahead at half-time 1-07 to 0-06.
