Expose star MIchelle Doherty is looking forward to becoming a mum for the first time.

Expose star MIchelle Doherty is looking forward to becoming a mum for the first time.

Xpose star Michelle Doherty, who hails from Carndonagh, has revealed she would’ve died if she found out she couldn’t conceive.

The stunning model 36, is expecting her first child next month, and admitted the pregnancy took her and her partner Mark O’Shea by surprise.

However, Michelle revealed she was relieved that she was able to have children, citing that many people take it for granted.

She told the Irish Daily Star, “I was more worried that I wouldn’t be lucky enough to get pregnant because so many people struggle to.

“Some people do take it for granted, but I was never one of those, I would’ve died if I couldn’t have had a baby.

Michelle was covering for TV3’s Aisling O’Loughlin who was on maternity leave when she discovered she was pregnant.

“Obviously when I got Expose I was like right this is brilliant.

“But you can’t put your life off because of jobs.

“I always wanted to be a mum, and I thought, ‘whenever it’s the right time I’ll take my blessings’.

However, Michelle also revealed how she was in a really bad place with depression, and was living like a recluse.

She told the Irish Daily Mail, “I was very low, I reached a really bad place, I couldn’t deal with it at all.

“I’m not a morning person at all, I’m a real night owl, but it got to the stage where I hated the sound of my own voice.

“I didn’t want to talk to anyone and I became a little bit of a recluse.

Thankfully Michelle has put those darks days behind her and is now looking forward to becoming a mum.

Work is currently taking a back seat for the London-based model and TV presenter and she focuses on being the best mum she can be.

“I want to be able to bond with the baby, and build the relationship.

“I know that I was fortunate growing up my mum was a housewife so she was always there for us.

“I know that’s probably not realistic in this day and age, but I’d still like to be there a lot of the time for my children.
