ATHLETICS NEWS: ROSSES AC ATHLETES PERFORM WELL AT COASTAL CHALLENGE IN DUNFANAGHY

There were fine performances from the North West athletes in the Cancer Coastal Challenge in Dunfanaghy last Saturday.

In the Ultimate Solo category, Edward Harkin was 3rd, Adrian Ward 4th, Denis Boner 5th, Willie Mac Giolla Bhríde 7th, Noel Boyd 28th. A fine performance from Helen Mc Cready to finish 3rd in the Ladies category. In the Ultimate Team Relay section, the winning team in the Ladies category were the Crazy Ladies – Sadie Mc Devitt, Kathleen Griffin and Maureen Doherty.

 

Best of luck to the following Rosses AC athletes competing in Tullamore in the All Ireland track and Field Ch’s on Saturday 26 July: Ailbhe O Donnell and Amy Hanna in U-16 Long Jump at 10 am. Patrick Marry in U-12 High Jump at 11 am. Joseph Sharkey in U-13 Shot Putt at 11 am. Leah Mc Garvey in U-12 Long Jump at 12 midday.

 

A large number of Rosses AC athletes will be competing in the Mary from Dungloe 5K on Tuesday 29th. Race starts at 7.30 pm with registration from 6 pm at Mc Devitt’s, Mill Road. North West athletes are asked to gather at Ostán entrance for a group photo.

 

Discounted prices have been extended for the Half and Full Donegal Marathons will take place on Sunday 24th August 2014. Every level of runner or walker is invited to participate. The 26.2 mile course will take in Letterkenny and the surrounding area. This promises to be an event which will both challenge and encourage all the participants.
