HOME IS NOT THE SAME WITHOUT MUM – DANIEL

Daniel O’Donnell has said it has been strange returning home to Donegal and not to have his beloved mother waiting for him.

Daniel and late mum Julia.

Daniel and late mum Julia.

The singer has returned to Donegal for a number of days since the death of mum Julia on May 18th last aged 94.

Daniel has just returned to his native Kincasslagh after touring North America and Canada.

He told his fans “It’s a big change being here at home and not popping in to see her every day but we are comforted by the fact that we had her for so long and I’m sure she is happy in her eternal home,” he said.

Daniel and his family have received thousands of mass-cards and sympathy cards since his mother’s passing.

He said he simply could not get the time to contact everyone who sent him and his family a personal message.

“Once again I would like to thank so many of you who have written and sympathised with me and all my family since my mother passed away.

“We could never begin to answer everyone personally so I hope you’ll accept this as an acknowledgment of your kind message of support.”

Daniel also revealed how he and wife Majella have also visited Medjugorje for a week before coming back to Ireland.

He said he and his wife had planned the trip last year while Majella was in the middle of her cancer treatment.

“We had planned this trip last September as a friend of ours, who is a priest, was leading the group we travelled with.

“At that time Majella was in the middle of her treatment and looking forward we felt that she would be well on the road to recovery and we thought the week in Medjugorje would give both of us time to reflect on the year that had passed.

“And indeed it did just that. Both of us had been here separately before but this time together was exactly what we needed. Medjugorje really is a very special place.”
