Donegal County Council has completed the delivery of over 500 tonne of stone to various sections of the Sliabh Liag Mountain Trail by helicopter was completed ahead of schedule today.

The works had been scheduled to take 7 days, however, the favourable weather conditions have meant that all deliveries were completed in less than 5 days.

In the interests of health and safety restrictions were put in place on some sections of the walking trail on Sliabh Liag, however, the full length of the trail has now reopened to the public.

Path repair and construction works along the path will continue over the coming months utilising the stone that was delivered by helicopter. The works will see the repair and construction of 1150m of trail.

However, it is important to note that there will not be any disruption to visitors to Sliabh Liag and the Mountain Trail shall remain open during the works.

The contractor Metro Building Contractors Ltd and Donegal County Council wish to thank all parties for their co-operation during the helicopter delivery works. The works were funded by Fáilte Ireland and Donegal County Council.
