Past Captains

The Past Captains Competition takes place next Sunday the 14th of September.

Tee reserved from 2pm. A draw for playing partners will take place prior to play.

Thursday Specials

This week was our last 15 Hole competition for 2014, in keeping with the trend all year once again the weather was perfect for Golf.

The winner was Adrian Murray with an excellent score of 35pts.

Frank O’Donnell claimed 2nd place with 32pts, Charlie McGinty continued his excellent form of late finishing 3rd with 28pts and Treasurer Brian Boyle was 4th on break of tie also with 31pts. Eugene McRoe claimed his second prize in as many week winning the 1st 9 with 21pts.

Once again we had a very hotly contested race for player of the year, with his closest competitors Martin Travers and Conor McNulty failing to improve on their totals.

The man who has been leading for most of the year Frank O’Donnell improved his total by 4pts to reach a very impressive Total of 260pts for his best 8 cards and claim the much coveted title for Player of the Year 2014.

Congratulation to Frank, the form player of 2014 and a very deserving winner.

After an off year last year Jimmy’s winning matches again, 2012 Phoenix Cup winner Jimmy Melly whose form in the Phoenix Cup is mirroring that of the other Jimmy, has beaten all challengers to reach the final of the Phoenix Cup once again.

If we are going to see a repeat of the remarkable double achieved in 2012, Jimmy will have to defeat Matt Gallagher who has proven he is just as competitive on the Golf Course as he was on the football field, no doubt Matt will be looking to add the Phoenix Cup to his collection which includes an All Ireland medal from 92.

Best of Luck to both Finalists.

When we were planning the date for Mixed Greensomes at the start of the Year we were aware of the potential for a fixture clash, if the other Jimmy started winning matches again, we agreed that that this was a problem we would all be happy to have.

As Donegal will be playing in the All Ireland final on the 21st the committee has taken the decision to postpone the Annual Mixed Greensomes which was to take place on the 20th September, details of the new arrangements will be provided as soon as it is confirmed.

This Year’s weekend away will be held on the 11th\12th October at Slieve Russell Golf Club.

Sheet is on the notice board please add your name if you are interested in travelling, the first 30 players with their name on the sheet and the €50 deposit paid will travel.

Social Mixed

The social mixed on the 5th September was won by newcomer John McCaffrey who played with Bernie Treacy and Gaye McGoldrick.

Running draw from 5pm to 5.30pm on Friday 12th September.
