Donegal’s defensive rock Neil McGee was named on the GAA.ie team of the year.

Donegal have had five players named on the team of the year selected by the popular GAA.ie website.

Gaoth Dobhair defender Neil McGee was named at full-back line on the team, while Frank McGlynn was also selected in the back six.

Glenswilly duo Neil Gallagher and Michael Murphy were named at midfield, while Ryan McHugh earned a place in the half-forward line.

The rest of the team was made of a mixture of players from All-Ireland winner Kerry and Mayo.

Dublin’s Paul Flynn was the only Dublin player selected on the team.

It’s hoped that Donegal will have at least half a dozen All-Stars when the selection process is complete next month.

Despite their defeat in Sunday’s All-Ireland decider, Donegal enjoyed a wonderful season with a number of consistent top quality performances throughout the season.
