Football

The minors lost to Naomh Conaill 0-8 to 1-6 in their championship play-off game last Wednesday in Convoy.

It was a very evenly contested match, but Glenties just about got over the line in the end. Aodh Ruadh were down Colm Kelly, Oisín Rooney and Matthew Maguire, but gave a good account of themselves.

Calum O’Halloran got the Ernesiders off the mark after nine minutes, before Nathan Boyle sent over a 45 off the deck.

Philip Patton added two further points in a first half where Kevin Warnock also pulled off a penalty save to make the half-time score 1-2 to 0-4 in favour of Naomh Conaill. There were further scores from Shane McGrath and Philip Patton in the second half, but Aodh Ruadh just couldn’t reel their opponents in. They were also unlucky in the end to see an number of goal chances coming back off the framework. Some of Aodh Ruadh’s best performances came in defence with Colm Doyle going well at corner back and Eddie Lynch doing an excellent job on Naomh Conaill danger man Ethan O’Donnell.

Also doing well for Ballyshannon were the four substitutes introduced over the course of the game, Jason Granaghan, Conal and Dónal Sweeny and Sean Taylor.

Hurling

The senior hurlers have their table quiz in Owen Roe’s this Thursday, 13th November. Come on out and bring a team with you! The action throws-in at 9.30pm.
