Last weekend the Aura in Letterkenny hosted yet another Level 1 Triathlon Ireland Coaching award, it was great to see over 14 coaches taking part and looking to develop on the coaching pathway.

24/7 Triathlon Club were out in full force with over 10 plus coaches from the club looking to help develop the club in both the junior and senior section. The Chairman Gavin Crawford was on hand to oversee his colleagues, learning and developing.

Many thanks to Aura , Stateside, and 247( Gavin Crawford) and our new tutor Paddy Mc McLaughlin who put the new coaches through their paces.

In the 2014 Runaway Donegal Challenge Serie, Letterkenny 24/7 had a first and second place in both the senior men category as well as the ladies category. The series was held over 11 Local sporting events including the Glen and Fanad Duathlons, Mulroy Bay swim, JG 5K & Cycle races, Ballyare 10k, Donegal full & Half Marathon, Mooathon, and two Mulroy Adventure race, both the 21 & 46K distance. Competitors collected points in each event with their best 6 finishes being used for the final score.

The concept of the series was brought about by the Moving Mevagh Forward Group to encourage as many people as possible to take part in local sporting events, thus, promoting what Donegal as a whole has to offer, Over 2,000 competitors took part in all of the races.

Michael Duffy was overall series winner, and with just 15 points the difference, Eugene Mc Gettigan took 2nd place, Shaun Logue finished in 3rd. A good run of form from the clubs Denis Shields saw him take the over 40 category home.

In the ladies section 24/7s newest members Emma Mc Gee and Sister Catherine Mc Kinley finished in 1st and 2nd respectfully.Well done to all.
