533234_437882889625825_281876874_nThe Exchange in Buncrana is fast-becoming a hub of music and the arts in our community!

Among it’s many functions, The Exchange is becoming increasingly well known for supporting music and the arts in the region.

With a cosy and chilled atmosphere, most events are run as byob evenings, with no set admission, but donations to The Exchange are accepted.

Regular ‘Live & Original’ events attract songwriters, musicians, writers and poets from all over Derry and Donegal and beyond. The format, which is exclusively for original material, features 10 artists each night, reading their written work or performing a 3 song max. The next event in this series is Feb 27th, doors at 8.30pm and the show starting at 9pm sharp.

This year Live & Original expands to include ‘Artist Spotlight’ events. These will offer performers an opportunity to try out a 20 minute support set or an hour long full show set, depending on which they feel ready for.

The first of these gigs will take place on March 12 and will feature Kildare singer Native Oak, with support from Bernie Doherty, who started Live & Original last year as a way to encourage local performers to take their work from their living rooms to the stage. With help from Emmet Shinners and a host of local artists, the event is becoming very well known among performers all over the country. Doors open at 8.30pm and the show starts at 9pm.

In addition to Live & Original events, the building may also be rented out by groups wishing to play small, mainly acoustic sets and there are regular events hosted by member groups from The Exchange that feature a variety of artists playing well known music & songs as well as original numbers.
