Five people have died and one has been rescued following a horrific tragedy in Buncrana this evening.
Details of how a car ended up going off the pier at Buncrana are still not known at this stage.
However, we can confirm that FIVE people, understood to be two adults and three children, have died.
Another child was rescued from the water after somehow being thrown from the car.
The child has now been rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital but his or her condition is not known.
The incident happened at 7.15pm this evening.
It is not yet known if all those who died are members of the one family or where they are from.
