Bunaíodh Druma Mór Rann na Feirste sa bhliain 1976 i Rann na Feirste in iarthar Dhún na nGall. Tá clú agus cáil ar an bhaile seo ó thaobh ceol, cultúr, oidhreacht agus teanga de agus thar na mblianta, d’éirigh leis an Druma Mór iomaí teidil áitiúla agus náisiúnta a bhaint amach.

The band was founded in 1976 in the Gaeltacht village of Rann na Feirste in West Donegal. Rann na Feirste is well-known for its rich history and tradition of song-writing and music and this tradition lives on in the Druma Mór band. Over the years the band has gone on to win many titles at both local and national level.

This St.Patrick’s Day the band entertained the local parishioners before and after morning mass in Annagry along with other local bands. They then went on to join in the 80th anniversary celebration of Mín Uí Bhaoill church before taking part in the annual St.Patrick’s Day parade through Gaoth Dobhair and dropping into Áras Gaoth Dobhair to play a few tunes!

40 years on, Druma Mór Rann na Feirste are seen marching proudly through Annagry village on St.Patrick’s Day.

This Easter Sunday Druma Mór Rann na Feirste will celebrate their 40th year and are joined by both past and present members in the celebrations. The band will march from Rann na Feirste to Annagry church on Easter Sunday morning along with the pupils of Scoil Oilibhéir Pluincéid and members of Club Óige Rann na Feirste. The celebrations will continue at Áislann Rann na Feirste where the committee have organised some refreshments and a slideshow of the history of the Druma Mór before continuing to Dungloe to join the Rosses Fifers Unite in their 1916 centenary celebrations.

Go raibh mile maith agaibh uilig a chuidigh linn go dtí seo agus tá súil againn go mbeidh sibh linn agus muid ag céiliúradh ar Domhnach Cásca!

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has helped the band throughout the years and invite you all to join in our celebrations this Easter Sunday. Go raibh mile maith agaibh!
