AODH RUADH CONTINUED their flawless start to their AllSportStore.com All-County Football League Division 3 campaign this afternoon, Naomh Ultan bagged a first win of the year last night while there was nothing between Burt and Naomh Bríd.

In Ballyshannon, Aodh Ruadh went four-from-four as they defeated Naomh Colmcille 1-13 to 1-6.

Aodh Ruadh started well and raced into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead with David Dolan (2), Peter Boyle, Seamus Kane, Philip Patton and Michel Ward on the mark.

They went close to the opening goal, but David McGurrin was denied by a fine Marty Callaghan save and Patton’s rebound cannoned off the crossbar.

Aodh Ruadh did break the resistance in the 17th minute when Patton turned across goal for Dolan to convert from close range.

Dolan was denied a second goal by the in-form Callaghan before Naomh Colmcille hit a goal of their own through Willie Gillespie, who gave Boyle no chance.

Aodh Ruadh led 1-8 to 1-2 at half-time. Naomh Colmcille attempted a comeback, with Michael Lynch superbly firing over from near half-way, but McGurrin and Patton ensured that Francie Martin’s team couldn’t get close enough.

Naomh Colmcille are still in search of their first win but Aodh Ruadh have started 2016 with real purpose.
