The ‘North West Breast Care Unit’ competition generously sponsored annually by the Silver Tassie was played on Friday July 22nd. It was open to both ladies and gents. It was as usual very well supported by the club members. Ladies who featured in the prizes were, the longest drive Celine Bradley, and nearest the pin Marian O Sullivan. The main prizes went to the gentlemen. Well done to all.

There was a great turnout for the Mc Fadden’s gift shop sponsored competition on Tuesday the 19th of July.

On probably the hottest day of the golfing year thus far, one of our very talented young players Mary Beth Mc. Brearty (31) was the winner with a super 38pts. The runner-up was Veronica Mc Ateer (12) 37pts. Coming in third was the in-form Nuala Mc Garrigle (21) 35 pts(bot). Front nine Mary Murray (10) 21pts, back nine Katrina Rainey (36) 18 pts. Given the challenging temperatures it was great scoring. Congratulations to all the winners.

One of the highlights of the year for Captain Jackie Ireland was the annual ladies outing. This year the venue was the Ballymascanlon Hotel in Co Louth. A superb choice which was endorsed by the over thirty ladies who travelled. A big thank you to Captain Jackie and her wonderful Vice Captain Mary Fowley for organizing this perfect venue, from both a golfing and entertaining aspect.

In very pleasant conditions with a tee time of 11am on a new course to all, the ladies set forth.
After a super meal the results of the day were declared. The only two recorded was by Patricia O Sullivan, nearest the pin was Angela Killgallen, front nine Shelia King 19pts and back nine Sandra Mc Monagle 20pts. In third place with 36 pts was Celine Bradley, runner-up Marian O Sullivan on 37 pts. The very popular winner was Anne Flannery with a terrific 38 pts. Heartiest congratulations to all the prize winners.

Needless to say the Barnhill ladies celebrated as only they know how. A very enjoyable outing in the lead up to the first week in August, and Captain Jackie’s big day on Saturday the 6th.

The list for players and diners on the aforementioned day is on the notice board in the locker room. So for those who haven’t already signed up please do so.
