Naomh Columba edged out Naomh Brid in a close encounter in Pairc na Gael on Sunday. In a tight championship match no quarter was given as both sides fought till the end. In a match played in glorious sunshine the away side started well.
The home side got the first 2 scores, Naomh Brid responded with a point of their own, they then raced into a 5 2 lead before the home side added another score through Ryan Gillespie. Naomh Brid added another 2 scores before Gillespie added another 2.
Half time score 8 6 to the visitors. The second half started with Naomh Brid scoring in their 1st attack. The home side responded with scores from Gillespie and a monster point from Captain Barry Carr. The home side came on strong as scores from sub Jamie Nc Nern and another from Declan Mc Guire kept the home side in it… Naomh Brid responded with 2 unanswered scores but the home side finished well as scores from Gillespie and a great score from distance off the boot of Martin Cunningham pulled the home side away. Late score from Pauric Cunningham sealed the victory for Naomh Columba.
Naomh Columba moved to the top of Group C in the Intermediate championship with a hard fought home win over Naomh Brid in Pairc Na nGael.
