Otway Golf Club: Danger lurks as Ollie, Martin and Charlie are denied by thin margin

In last Sunday’s turkey scramble, danger lurked in every part of the course, but despite a brilliant individual performance by Ollie, and some excellent putting by his team mate Martin, the team were victims of daylight robbery when victory was denied by the narrowest of margins.

Third member of the 2nd place team, Charlie Patton, was reduced to tears on hearing the news that the team of Frances McFadden, Shaun Duffy and William Roarty returned a winning score of eight under par, with a combined handicap of 4.9, snatching victory by a margin of point 1 of a handicap.

Only time will tell if Charlie ever recovers from the heartache of that defeat, but he and all members will have an opportunity to battle it out again this Saturday 10th in the Christmas Hamper singles competition, with names in to the clubhouse by 10.30 for an 11am sharp shotgun start.

The committee would also like to congratulate all the winners at the fundraiser game of 25 in the Rathmullan RDRC last Friday night, and also a big thank you to Orla, Patricia and Katie for their marvelous catering skills, and to the sponsors of the prizes on the night.
