Home draw for LYIT in Colleges Cup quarter-final

LETTERKENNY Institute of Technology have been handed a home draw in the quarter-finals of the Umbro Colleges Cup.

The draw took place at FAI Headquarters in Abbotstown yesterday.

Shane Byrne’s LyIT were given a home tie against Colaiste Stiofan Naofa.

The teams have met before in the competition with LYIT being victorious in the past in 2006, most notably, winning the finals that year 2-0.

LyIT’s Paddy Gallagher is the Competition Secretary and was present for the draw, alongside Colleges FA Chairman, Padraig Carney and the Third Level Colleges League Coordinator, Mark Scanlon, were present to make the draw with Paddy Gallagher, LYIT, present in his capacity as Competition Secretary.

LYIT’s nearest rivals in the competition, IT Sligo, secured a bye to the semi finals stages.

In the run up to the cup competition , which will be played on the week commencing 6th February 2017, LyIT will also have a league quarter final against NUI Galway, and that game will proceed on the week before, – 28th January 2107

LyIT again willl have a home tie, courtesy of topping the league Division 1 table.
