‘Disgusting’: Volunteers find human waste during clean-up operation

A team of volunteers who have embarked on a clean-up on the outskirts of Letterkenny say that human waste has been found during their operation.

Local man John Wilkie is leading a group in a clean-up of the Lower Dromore area, near the Dry Arch roundabout and dual carriageway.

Yesterday, Donegal County Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh blasted litter louts after it was revealed that a toilet bowl and a pregnancy test were among the items lifted by team members.

Now, though, the matter has plunged to new depths.

“We are into day four of the Lower Dromore clean-up and it is getting worse,” Mr Wilkie told Donegal Daily.

“On day three, a total of 12 bags of rubbish were collected. Not only has the area been used for illegal dumping, but this site is also being used as a public toilet. We even found human waste during the clean-up.

“This is just disgusting.”

This news comes just weeks after slides at Letterkenny Town Park were defecated.
