Public encouraged to go extra kilometre for charities during NorthWest 10K

This year the North West 10K will take place on Sunday 30th April, 2017 at 2.00pm in aid of two local charities ‘Donegal Sexual Abuse & Rape Crisis Centre’ and the ‘Parents & Friends of Abbey Village, Kilmacrennan’.

Both charities assist many vulnerable people across County Donegal and are in clear financial need to reach those awaiting the specialist support offered by both.

The Donegal Sexual Abuse & Rape Crisis Centre was established in 1997 and is celebrating 20 years of supporting survivors in Donegal this year. The service provides a free support and counselling service to both female and male survivors of rape and sexual violence in Donegal aged 14 and over.

Abbey Village is situated in Kilmacrennan and is home to 32 residents with intellectual disabilities. It consists of group homes which have 5 residents in each house and 17 within semi-independent living. The residents have varied degrees of ability and range in age from 26 to 85. Abbey Village runs at full capacity at all times.

These two deserving charities are encouraging people to go the extra ‘kilometre’ by taking out sponsorship cards or if possible organising fundraising events in their locality.

The North West 10K has been running for 21 years and provides a great day out for all of the family whilst raising funds for much-needed charities.

Sponsorship cards are available by calling 074 91 28211 | 087 998 2164
Or by collection at: Letterkenny Chamber, Grand Central Complex, Canal Road
Registration is now being taken at www.northwest10k.com
Entries will also be taken on Saturday 29th April from 3.00pm to 6.00pm.
Entry closes at 1.00pm on day of race.
