Letterkenny 24/7 Triathlon: Preparations underway for Letterkenny Try a Tri and Super Sprint Triathlons

Clint Doherty was first 24/7 club member over the line in Sundays 10k hosted by Convoy AC. Clint finished in 36:25 in what was perfect conditions on a flat course. Jason King raced well finishing in 39:59 while Adrian Callaghan completed the 10k course in 42:10.

The only 24/7 female to take on Sunday’s race was Emma McGee but it was a super race for Emma- her first 10k since returning from surgery which resulted in an excellent PB of 43:25.

Of course, no race is complete without the Raphoe Duo, Terence Quinn finishing with a time of 48:12 and Raj Mehan in 49:15.

 

Swilly Seals 5k

Martin Donnelly was the first 24/7 club member to cross the line in Thursdays Swilly Seals 5k, resulting in a top 10 finish for Martin on the popular Interfirms course. Rachael Stilvern was consistent as always finishing in 24:52 while Niamh McDaid and Catherine and McKinley finishing in 25mins using it as a recovery run after their brilliant performances in Omagh the previous weekend. Junior member Eadaoin Kelly also raced well and finished in 25:13.

Saturday Swim Session

Due to demand a Saturday swim session has been added to the clubs training timetable. This is a coached session and will be from 6-7pm at Aura.

Please note prepayment does not cover the cost of Saturday sessions.

 

Prepayment

The April-June swim payment of €80 for those who prepay for the year is now due.

 

Try a Tri and Super Sprint -23rd April

Preparations are well underway for the 2017 Letterkenny Try a tri and Super Sprint Triathlons which will take place on Sunday 23rd April at the Aura Leisure Centre. Always a popular event with new people and existing triathletes this event sells out quickly. Please note as this is a pool based triathlon entries are limited.

As the Aura Leisure centre has a moveable floor, the less experienced swimmers have nothing to fear as the floor will be risen on the day, with a water depth of only 1.25metres.

There will be 2races on the day, the Try a tri with a swim distance of 200meters (8 pool lengths) and the Super Sprint with a swim of 400 meters (16 pool lengths). Please note that the Try a tri is only open to first time competitors in triathlon.

Entries are now open on the Triathlon Ireland website. This is a pre-entry event only and no entries will be taken on the day.

Club training continues as follows:

Tuesday: Track session- 7.45pm

Wednesday: Swim session- Advanced 7-8pm, Intermediate/ Beginners 8-9pm

Thursday: Brick/TT session 6:30pm

Saturday: Club cycle leaves from Aura at 8am

Saturday: Swim session- 6-7pm (please note prepayment does not cover the cost of Saturday sessions)
