Jason Quigley’s rise up the professional boxing ladder has been confirmed with the Ballybofey man now including in the rankings of both the WBC and the WBA.

The newly-released WBC rankings now have Quigley at number 15, with the Golden Boy Promotions prospect chalked in at ninth on the WBA’s list.

Quigley last month defeated Glen Tapia at Fantasy Springs, Indio, to win the NABF middleweight title.

Quigley managed to go the ten-round distance with Tapia despite sustaining a horrific hand injury in the second round. Medics in Los Angeles described it as a ‘one in ten million’ injury.

Until he picked up the ailment, Quigley – managed by Sheer Sports Management – looked set to record an inside-the-distance win, but the former amateur standout had to go eight rounds practically one-handed.

Quigley is 13-0 as a pro and will be out of action until the autumn.
