BJ Banda says that his ‘head was gone’ last season – but the Finn Harps teenager hopes to hit the high notes again after a match-winning night against Derry City.

The LyIT student first hit the headlines when his famous header gave Harps a dramatic win over Limerick in the promotion-relegation play-off in 2015.
The 18-year-old didn’t feature much for Harps in the top flight last season, but tonight he came off the bench to help guide Harps to their first ever away League win over Derry.
“It was a long time coming,” Banda said.
“I worked hard for this season. I didn’t have the best of seasons last year, but that was my own fault. Hopefully I can get more goals now this season.
“Last year my head was gone with the Leaving Cert, with school, everything. This year, my main focus is football and hopefully I can get the rewards.”
Michael Funston netted Harps’ second after a Banda shot was saved by Gerard Doherty.
