St Catherines FC  1, Killdrum Tigers 2

Kevin McHugh scored his first goal since signing for Kildrum Tigers as the St Johnston side sealed Premier Division survival with a win at St Catherine’s.

The former Finn Harps star broke in from the right wing and sent an unstoppable shot to the top corner from the 18-yard line, giving the home keeper no chance.

Against the run of play St Catherines were awarded a penalty for a push in the back on Daniel Breslin 35 minutes in and it was all even as Breslin calmly sent the ball low and hard to the keeper’s right.
One minute into the second half and the Saints were caught napping from a corner.

Michael Mullin was beaten low to his right when William Lynch was the most alert to make it 2 -1 to Kildrum.

The home side went 3 at the back and pushed on for an equaliser. Very few chances were created and Johnny McGinty was in no mood to concede at the centre of the defence for the visitors.

Kildrum hit the home team on the break once or twice and were unlucky not to get the third and comfort goal.

The Saints huffed and puffed but never looked like scoring and the Tigers held on.

Johnny Carlin was excellent for Killdrum and Daniel Breslin best for the Saints.
Drumoghill FC  5, Lagan Harps FC  2

CT Ball Division 2
Cranford FC  2, Eany Celtic FC  1

Cranford had good chances in the first half, but failed to get the lead. Eany made a great start to the second half with a fine long range effort, putting them 1 up.

Cranford drew level from a neat finish by Philip Buchanan, and then Brendan Giles sealed the win, with a good finish from close range.

Drumkeen United 1, Dunkineely Celtic FC  2

Dunkineely arrived in Drumkeen on Sunday knowing that only a victory would be enough to clinch the second automatic promotion place in CT Ball Division 2.

The visitors got the victory but Drumkeen did not make it easy for them and they had to fight right until the very end. Dunkineely started brightly and had a few early chances, they broke the deadlock on the 18th minute when Paul Murrin drove home a great shot to the corner of the net.

Drumkeen pressed hard for an equaliser and Dunkineely Goalkeeper Donal Murrin had to make several saves to keep Dunkineely’s lead intact at half time. It was a typically tight end to end Division 2 affair in the second half as the clock was ticking down.

Dunkineely still had only a slender lead   but their nerves were eased towards the end of the match when a Daniel Gallagher  cross  into the box  took a deflection off a Drumkeen defender and into the net to double their advantage.

The result was a bit harsh on the home team who battled hard throughout and maybe deserved something from the game.

The final whistle brought delight for the visitors who are now promoted to Division 1 for next season. D

rumkeen will finish off their season with a home game against Eany Celtic next week and they can finish 5th in the League regardless of that result on goal difference.
Glencar Inn Saturday Division
Dunlewey Celtic1, Orchard FC  2

The last game of the season saw the visitors coming away with a well fought three points.

The game started well for Orchard when they took the lead through Peoples when he knocked home an easy tap in.

This didn’t affect the home side who got back on level terms when a Daniel Gallagher cross found Paul Coll to head home. The second half was nip and tuck with Ciaran Boyce and Ruairi White playing well in the back line but they came unstuck when Sean Sweeney turned well in the box to knock pass Hugo Cannon in the Dunlewey goals.

Cannon kept the home side in it with a couple of saves as Orchard looked to kill off the game the home side did push hard for a goal and came close with John Cannon, Manus Cannon and Brendan McGeady all coming close. Best for Dunlewey were Paul Coll, Lorcan Gallagher, Ciaran Boyce and Ruairi White. Best for Orchard was Sean Swenney.

Old Orchard Sat Reserve Division
Cappry Rovers  0, Milford United FC  3

(No report Submitted)
Milford United FC  2, Donegal Town FC Reserves 4

Milford welcomed Donegal Town to Moyle View Park and it was the visitors who went away with the well deserved three points. Milford took the lead after five minutes with Ciaran Blaney’s speculative shot from 25 yards finding the back of the net.

Donegal rallied though and equalised through Ben Sweeney after 15 minutes. David Ted Bustard then put Donegal 2-1 ahead after some loose defending from the Milford defence.

With Milford pushing for an equaliser in the second half they were caught on the break with Shaun Hegarty finishing well after a good run.

Ryan Hegarty made it 4-1 with a good header from a free kick. Ryan Campbell pulled one back for Milford with a tidy finish but they couldn’t find any more goals.

St Catherines FC  4, Cappry Rovers  1
