COLAISTE NA CARRAIGE were crowned Donegal Vocational Schools’ senior champions with a comprehensive win over Loreto Community School Milford this afternoon in Donegal town.

Colaiste na Carraige 5-14 Loreto CS Milford 1-10

Goals from Ryan O’Donnell, Shane Gillespie, Aaron Doherty, Lanty Molloy and Aaron McShane did the damage for the side from the south-west in a 16-point success.

Their electric start laid the foundations for the win, with a 2-6 to 0-0 advantage having been established before the Milford based team finally got off the mark.

O’Donnell’s goal came in only the second minute with Naomh Columba duo Lanty Molloy and Doherty playing their part in the build-up.

That made the score 1-1 to 0-0 following an opening point from the impressive Gary Molloy.

Shane Gillespie added a second goal just after the quarter-hour to establish a 12-point Colaiste na Carraige lead, with Aaron McShane, Doherty, Lanty Molloy and Gary Molloy all scoring.

Loreto CS finally got on the board when Connor Gormley posted an 18th minute free-kick. Bernard McGettigan, Ryan McMahon and Rory O’Donnell would post points late in the half but Doherty, a minute prior to the break, goaled again for Colaiste na Carraige, who were 3-7 to 0-4 in front at half-time.

When Lanty Molloy then added another goal for Colaiste na Carraige. Loreto CS did rally to a point and forced Colm Garvey, the Colaiste na Carraige goalkeeper, into a couple of late saves, with Caolan Gallagher and Keelan McGroddy out of luck.

Odhran Doogan, Lanty Molloy, Doherty, Ryan O’Donnell and Gillespie all scored points late on. Shane McNamee did score a late goal for Loreto.
