Kickboxing: McGinley’s unbelievable debut in Dungannon

Kickboxing LK were on the road once again last weekend when they traveled to Dungannon town with Eliot Mc Ginley to make his debut on Saturday night.

Eliot has been training hard under the guidance of two time world champion Tommy “The Ghost” Mc Cafferty.

Eliot put on what can only be described as a strong and technical performance as he out gunned the hometown fighter to pick up an unanimous decision.

Eliot started off very aggressive putting the hometown fighter on the back foot with some heavy handed combinations, the Dungannon kickboxing club fighter was not one to back down from a gun fight and was throwing some overhand rights in an attempt to stop Mc Ginley’s onslaught.

After a strong first round Mc Cafferty told Mc Ginley to change strategy and to forget about brawling and to start moving and putting his kicks together more.

The change of strategy started to result in Eliot landing some clean shots scoring highly on the judges’ cards.

For the final round Mc Ginley came into his own, landing two stunning head kicks to nearly finish the fight in the closing seconds.

It was a great start to a very bright future for another Letterkenny fighter.

With a very strong technical team of young fighters coming from Kickboxing LK and Letterkenny Muay Thai there’s a bright future for kickboxing in the North West.

Training continues with Ryan Fanneran, Jayson Fox and Brian Crossan; all scheduled to compete on the undercard of a world title fight in Portadown.
