Three from three as McGuinness’s Beijing Sinobo Guoan overcome Carlos Tevez and Co

IT’S THREE FROM  three now for Beijing Sinobo Guoan in the Chinese Super League following another useful win this afternoon.

The 2-1 win over Shanghai Shenhua away from home at the Hongkou Football Stadium  came courtesy of a brace of goals from Spanish striker Jonathan Soriano, who has scored five of the six goals since the new management team took place.

McGuinness was recruited by former Bayer Leverkusen manager Roger Schmidt, who was recently appointed as Beijing’s new manager.

Their tenure opened with a 2-0 victory over six-in-row league champions and current league leaders Guangzhou Evergrande and followed up last week with another 2-0 win, this time at the expense of Guizhoue Renhe. Today’s win has taken Beijing Sinobo Guoan up to fourth in the table.

Soriano’s 31st minute opener and 48th minute penalty came either side of an equaliser for Shanghai Shenhua from Colombia’s Giovanni Moreno. Former Manchester United and Manchester City frontman, Argentinian Carlos Tevez, and Nigerian Obafemi Martins, who played for Inter Milan and Newcastle United were part of the beaten team.

Gustavo Poyet, who played for Chelsea and Spurs and was in charge of Leeds United, Brighton and Sunderland, is the manager of Shanghai Shenhua.
