September 18, 2017

A man took a €250 car on a test-drive and then hit a pole before fleeing the scene leaving his passenger in the car.

James Tierney, from 3 McCann’s Corner, St Johnston took the vehicle for a test-drive on November 18th last but hit a ditch and lost control of the car at Derry Road, St Johnston.

The 23-year-old, who admitted a charge of hit and run, then left the scene leaving his female passenger in the front seat of the car.

Solicitor Kieran Dillon said his client had bought the car for €250 on DoneDeal and he was taking the car to his brother’s to have him look at it.

He said he made an unfortunate choice but said the passenger was unhurt as a result of the crash.

Judge Paul Kelly adjourned the case until November for a Probation Report into the matter.
