Glenswilly woman Mary Devine and her horse, Wolansky, won the National Championships in their class at the Dressage Ireland National Championships.

Competing in the medium category 2 class, Mary and Wolansky triumphed at the Cavan Equestrian Centre.

These were the biggest championships held to date with over 800 tests being ridden by riders and horses from all over the country.

These competitors and horses had previously qualified at regional competitions throughout the year to compete in the national finals.

Mary and Wolansky made history as it was the first time a Donegal-based competitor has won a national title at this level.

They had to compete in two classes at medium level with the championship winner having the highest overall percentage of the two classes.

On Saturday, they won their first class and were third on Sunday to take the top prize.

They also placed fifth in the freestyle to music.
