Eany Celtic enter Donegal Youth League with nail-biting clash against Swilly Rovers

Eany Celtic 1-4 Swilly Rovers

Eany Celtic played their first ever Donegal Youth League match at Eany Park last Saturday where they were beaten 4-1 by Swilly Rovers in what was a very entertaining and competitive game.

Whilst Swilly were deserved winners, the 4-1 scoreline may not have truly reflected how little there actually was between the two sides with two of Swilly’s goals coming in the last 10 minutes of the game.

Club chairman Paul McGuckin said that he was delighted with the performance of the players and that he hoped that the new initiative for the club would go some way towards bridging the gap between U16 and Senior football.

“In the longer term we hope to keep larger numbers of players playing football at Eany for longer than they would traditionally have done and subsequently those players will feed into our senior team”.

Back row-Sean Campbell, Eoin Jordan, Dylan Neill, Wiktor Smus, Joe Campbell, Loughlan Mulroy, Daniel Meehan, Nathan Maxwell & James Maxwell. Front row-Joe Stitt, Adam McGloin, Kyle Campbell, Jack Byrne, Oisin Meehan, David McGuckin & Tom Daly
