October 24, 2017

A delivery man who was caught drink driving has been disqualified from the roads for one year.

Mr Patrick McMenamin (51) was driving a white transit van when he was stopped by Gardai at Townparks, Lifford, on 31st October 2016.

On taking a breath test, Gardai registered a blood alcohol level of 38mg/100ml.

Mc McMenamin was subsequently arrested and appeared at Letterkenny District Court on Monday 23rd October on drunk driving charges. He pleaded guilty and told Judge Paul Kelly he was “very sorry”.

The court heard Mr McMenamin was a delivery driver in full-time employment.

Judge Kelly gave him the option to have his disqualification postponed to get his affairs in order regarding his employment.

Mr McMenamin agreed to accept the disqualification immediately. He was fined €200 and banned from driving for one year, with the ban coming into effect in 14 days.
