Martin Harley led the 11/4 shot Author’s Dream to an impressive victory this afternoon.

The William Knight-trained five-year-old, under a good ride by the Trentagh man, had three lengths to spare in winning the Betway Stayers Handicap at Lingfield.

After two furlongs of the two-mile race, Author’s Dream hit the front and was clearly in command by the midway point.

“He’s a big horse and he stayed on really well,” Harley said.

“When you’re going for two miles you need to be fit. Full credit to the trainer and to the horse. It’s a good day.”

Harley and Author’s Dream saw off the 4/5 favourite Grey Waters, trains by Joseph O’Brien./
