Gardai are at the scene of a number of crashes in Donegal this morning after a night of snow, sleet and ice.
Emergency services attended the scene of a crash outside Ramelton on the Milford Rd (R245) at Blacks Glen. Gardai have dealt with the collision but sleet and slush remains an issue in the area so extreme care is needed.
There are also reports of an accident in Creeslough near the graveyard.
While Donegal County Council are gritting all major routes from 6am this morning, drivers are warned to assume that no road is ice free. Sleet and ice is an issue in many areas and extreme care is needed.
A Status Yellow Warning for Snow and Ice is in place for the whole country today, valid until 3am Wednesday.
A wind warning has been updated to alert people to take care among mean winds speeds of 55 to 65 km/h giving gusts of 90 to 110km/h throughout Tuesday until Wednesday at 3am. High-sided vehicles are especially vulnerable in windy conditions and should take necessary precautions.
A flood warning has also been issued for Donegal and western counties due to an increased risk of coastal flooding.
AA Roadwatch advises motorists to slow down and remember that stopping distances are ten times longer in snow and ice.
