Letterkenny’s new €20 million courthouse was officially opened this afternoon by The Chief Justice of Ireland, Mr Justice Frank Clarke, and the Minister for Justice, Charlie Flanagan, Charlie Flanagan.
Court sittings in the new courthouse began on January 2nd last
The courthouse has a floor area of over 5,000m2.
Facilities include four courtrooms and public office. User facilities are a big upgrade from the old courthouse and include two vulnerable witness suites, victim support room, legal practitioners room, enhanced custody facilities, jury reception room, media room and consultation rooms.
The courthouse was packed today as top legal officials, Courts Service staff, Gardaí, barristers, solicitors and politicians attended to mark the official opening.
