Mark English concludes indoor season with positive run in Athlone

Mark English delivered a positive conclusion to his indoor season last night in Athlone.

English came second in the 800m at the AIT International in a time of 1:47.48.

The UCD AC man only returned to action at the weekend following a lay-off since the World Championships in August, but cruised to the Irish Indoor 800m crown.

English followed that up with last night’s good display against some top athletes.

The 800m was won by Spaniard Kevin Lopez in 1:47.43

English’s big target this year will be the European Championships, which are being held in Berlin in August, with a medal there a very real target for the 24-year-old Letterkenny man.

Really enjoyable night of racing at #AITGrandPrix. Big thanks to @gbrett3 and all who helped make it happen. Also, the crowd made that final straight race off so exciting to be a part of – thank you! That's a wrap for my 5 day indoor season. Some good foundations for Summer!
