Letterkenny Golf Club – Ten pars and a birdie as Kevin Kiely sweeps to victory

The Wednesday Open on the 4th April was won by Kevin Kiely (7.8) with 38 points.  He got 10 pars and 1 birdie on the 15th which is no mean achievement. 

Vincent Bianconi (17.4) came in 2nd place with a good score of 36 points and Mathew Dunne got 3rd place with 35 points. Matthew is showing good form at the start of this golfing season and his handicap is starting to tumble down.

Hector McIIwaine (17.4) had a great win at the Saturday Open (07/04/18) with 40 points. Hector took 2 birdies out of the course i.e. the 16th and 18th.

If he was in the twos’ he is certainly also in the money. Martin Doherty (24.6) got 2nd place with 38 points (bot) with Jamie Burns (away) coming in 3rd. place. Charlie Coughlin (9.1) was not far away coming in 4th with 37 points.

There was a big turnout for Sunday Members Competition.  Darragh Walsh (11.0) won the with 41 pts. Darragh got 3 birdies on the 1st, the 8th and the 10th. Great golf.

Tommy Greally (18.7) came in 2nd with 40 points. having got a birdie on the 16th. Jalisco Shortt (24.1) got 3rd place with a good score of 39 points with Roy McCrory (7.7) close behind with 38 pts. Jamie Foley (3.7) won the Gross (bot) with 36 points.

Category 4 players (all players 18 handicap or over welcome) are reminded that the Monday evening competitions over 13 holes has re-commenced.

Letterkenny Golf Club is holding a taster session to be held on Sunday afternoon April 22nd 3-5pm.

If you have ever thought of giving golf a go or getting to understand why your golfing friends love the game so much now is your chance.

The member volunteers will be on hand to demonstrate the basics of the game and you will get an opportunity to swing a club and try your hand at putting.

As a follow on from this taster if you are interested you can join our Get into Golf program which is open to Ladies and Gents .This program gives you the opportunity of receiving group lessons from our resident PRO and course practice with member volunteers.
