Talented fly angler Michelle Hay from Downings is preparing to compete for gold in the 2018 Ladies International Championships next week.

The Donegal woman is a member of the Irish Ladies Fly Fishing Association team who will be travelling to Lyn Clywedog in Wales for this year’s international games

This is Michelle’s 3rd international cap for Ireland. The team will be taking on opponents from England, Scotland and Wales as 48 anglers will be competing for gold on the 28th June.

Michelle said her favourite place to fish is Lough Fern. Her passion for fishing began when she initially started boating a disabled friend so he could go fishing. She started fishing to pass the time out on the lake, and has never looked back. She added that she is delighted to be on this year’s team heading to Wales.
