Sommer Lecky goes in the women’s high jump final this morning at the IAAF World U20 Athletics Championships in Finland.

The Finn Valley AC woman is expected to be in action at the Ratina Stadium in Tampere around 11am.

On Friday, Lecky successfully cleared the 1.84m height needed to secure automatic qualification into the final.

Lecky was flawless in qualification, first-timing all six heights on the day.

The Castlederg woman, who was tenth in the Commonwealth Games earlier in the year, has become the first athlete from Finn Valley to reach a world final.

Now, she can see the possibilities emerging.

“We’ll see what happens in the final,” the 17-year-old said.

“Anything can happen once you’re there.”
