The sun shone bright at the Big Isle Manorcunningham as Dylan Browne McMonagle made a piece of Northwest history by recording a staggering eight-timer surpassing talented apprentice Rossa Ryan’s seven winners at Ramelton a few years ago.

His first win came in the Dougie Thompson Memorial 2 mile aboard Hes Got It and he quickly doubled up on the impressive Five Stone Of Lead in the Richie Barron and Elizabeth Connolly Memorial 148cm pony race.

Dylan’s treble was completed in the Brian Ferry Memorial Ten furlong open on Athea Jade who won in good style and the four timer came riding Aideens Dream in the one mile James Torrens Memorial race for the Holians from Ballyare.

The five timer came in his grandad’s race the Hugo Browne Memorial 12 furlong open when Let It Go cantered home in easy fashion and it was six shortly afterwards as That’ll Do took the Ciaran Gildea Memorial race over 14 furlongs.

Seven of the best and his best day to date for Dylan was in the Hugh McGuigan Memorial 11 furlong maiden when Ba An Daingan claimed the Honours and his red letter day was completed when the perfectly named Dylans Pride bolted up in the Decky Holian Memorial race the 153cm pony race giving the teenager an eight-timer and a day to remember.

Dylan was also awarded champion jockey on the day receiving the Tom McLaughlin Memorial Trophy.

County Antrim star Sam Ewing bagged a double when guiding Watch This Space home in the Christina Geaney Memorial over seven furlongs and Donegal Dan in the Eric Steele Memorial race over 14 furlongs.

The Local race was probably the most exciting race of the day when Made Of Candy and Kian McNally had a neck to spare over Blosson and Nicole Yemm in a gripping finish.

Balintra Races August bank holiday Monday with first race at 2.30pm
